Attending Rathbone School

July 9, 2009
Eagle Harbor

The Adventures in History series presents "Attending Rathbone School" for grade K-5 on Thursday, July 9 from 9:30 to 11:30 am at the Rathbone School on Centre Street in Eagle Harbor.

Going to school barefoot? If you were attending the Rathbone School in 1864, you may have done so. You would have learned your lessons with slate and chalk, written with a metal-nib pen and ink and "made your manners" at all times. You can do all of these things plus play games, sing songs of the past and do an art project while taking on the identity of an actual Eagle Harbor "scholar" of the 1860s. Come barefoot or wear a long skirt and experience an exciting morning of "living history".

The Adventures in History in Keweenaw County Michigan for Children and Adults is sponsored by the Keweenaw County Historical Society. Pre-registration is required. Registration forms are available by calling 906-289-4666.
