The opening reception for the new Icarus Rising: Lessons from the Bees exhibit at the Copper Country Community Arts Center at 126 Quincy Street in Hancock will be held on Thursday, July 10 from 6 to 8 pm. The exhibit of encaustic and beeswax collage and assemblages by Melissa Hronkin will run through July 31.The Mass City artist and beekeeper uses images depicting bees, beekeepers, the history of beekeeping, the lore surrounding this collaboration between humans and nature, and human interrelationships. Melissa says in her statement about the work, "The sacred and sensual aspect of honey and beeswax is an area of interest for me.
