Digging The Past

The Adventures in History 2008 program, for students in grades 2 - 9, presents "Digging The Past" with Barry James, Curator of Education at the Michigan Iron Industry Museum in Negaunee, from 9:45 am to noon on Thursday, July 10. Meet at the Lighthouse Overlook across from the Ft. Wilkins State Park Entrance on US-41 east of Copper Harbor.

Archeology at Fort Wilkins. Tour the archeological sites at the Fort and view artifacts, photos and reproductions to see what we can learn from archeology at Ft. Wilkins. Discuss tools and methods used. A follow-up activity wil be "Putting the Pieces Together: Assembling Ceramics."

The Adventures in History series in a part of the Outreach and Educational Programs for Children and Adults sponsored by the Keweenaw County Historical Society.
