The main objective of the Keweenaw Convention & Visitors Bureau is to increase awareness of, promotion of and visitation to the Keweenaw.The KCVB offers 4 levels of participation in the organization:1. FREE LEVEL: This level is free to non-lodging businesses located in Houghton and Keweenaw counties and includes a free listing on the website with Business Name, Address and Phone Number for tourist related businesses in the opinion of the KCVB Board. This level is not available to lodging properties.2. ADVERTISER LEVEL: Cost: $100 for non-lodging businesses located in Houghton and Keweenaw counties.Includes:All benefits at the free levelPhoto and link from KCVB website to business websiteListing in the KCVB Adventure GuideEligible to participate in all KCVB group adsBusiness brochures, rack cards, etc may be displayed in KTC officeOffice referralsAdvertising level does not include voting rights3. MEMBERSHIP LEVEL:Cost: $150 for non-lodging businesses located in Houghton and Keweenaw countiesIncludes:All benefits at the advertiser levelFull membership which includes voting for Board of DirectorsEligible to serve on Board of Directors4. LODGING LEVEL:Cost: Property must sign up to collect RAD or pay membership rate of $150 per lodging unit for properties with less than 10 rooms. Properties with 10 or more units must collect RAD by law per PA59No other level is available to lodging propertiesIncludes:All benefits at the membership levelAll levels became effective on October 1, 2009.THE KCVB PUBLISHES the full color Adventure Guide that includes: Attractions, Arts & Culture, Lighthouses, Waterfalls, 4 Seasons of Activities, Lodging, Restaurants, Shopping, Services and a Map; Special Events & Website Calendar; Snowmobile Map; Rack Cards; Rockhounding Guide; Fishing Guide; Hiking & Biking Trail Guide; Ski & Snowshoe Trail Guide; Outdoor Adventure Guide. --MAINTAINS the www.keweenaw.info website (106,976 visits in 2009). --SUPPORTS: Familiarizations Tours, Keweenaw Trail Running Festival, In Fisherman PWT, Keweenaw Chain Drive Festival, Pine Mountain Music Festival, Copper Harbor Fat Tire Festival, 2006 Junior Olympics, Great Bear Chase, 2007 & 2008 Senior Nationals, Great Deer Chase. --SUPPORTS the operations of the snowmobile program. --ANSWERS tens of thousands of inquiries in response to walk-ins, written, email, website, fax and phone requests (45,161 in 2009). --ADVERTISES in Lake Superior Magazine (2 issues), Lake Superior Circle Tour Guide, Midwest Living Magazine, Silent Sports Magazine, Upper Peninsula Travel & Recreation Travel Planner, Master Skier, Keweenaw Travel Planner, Ski the UP, Snowmobiler Magazine, Walleye Insider, Heritage Trail, SAE Clean Snowmobile Challenge, MTU Campus Map, johndee.com. --ATTENDS winter and summer travel shows. --OPERATES the visitor center in Calumet with the lobby open 24 hours (the office is a Wifi hotspot with a computer available to visitors to browse our website for member business information and check their email). --TRACKS room vacancies during busy times. --WORKS cooperatively with such organizations as the Keweenaw Peninsula Chamber of Commerce, Keweenaw National Historical Park, U.P. Travel & Recreation Association, Travel Michigan, Department of Natural Resources, Michigan Snowmobile Association, Keweenaw Water Trail, Keweenaw Underwater Preserve and Keweenaw Trails Services, Inc.
